The Farm

Dear readers,

First I'd like to thank you for visiting my website, I hope you enjoy browsing through it, getting to know my wonderful Arabian friends a little better.

To start from the beginning, I'd like to tell you a short story about how it all began…

Ever since I can remember, I have loved all animals, and especially dogs, cats and horses. From the moment I was able to talk, I asked my parents to buy me a big dog, but they were smart enough not to do that. We had cats though, and rabbits and that was okay with me too.

When I was 5 years old, I started to learn how to ride a horse and I loved it from the beginning. Shortly after that, my father one day took me to some kind of horse event and that's where I first saw, and fell in love with the Arabian Horse. There I was, a little girl on the hand of her father, looking at a snow-white Arabian stallion, saying “when I grow up, I want to have a horse like that, daddy”.

Years later, when I was an early teenager, I got my first pony, a half Arab, half New Forrest. Her name was Starlight. She was born in 1972 and after all these years, she’s still with me, happy and very healthy. We spent lots and lots of time together, riding, competing and having fun. She and I sort of grew up together and by the time she was in her early 20's, I finished school, got a job, and started thinking about buying an Arabian Horse, the kind of horse I always dreamed about.
I came in contact with Ellen de Man of Magic Arabians, at that time the owner of Kar Halcon, and she found me my first Arabian mare. Dachinea (Mel Nebli x Nairobi), was three years old at that time and I bred her to Halcon.  Next spring she gave birth to her, and my first baby, “Duljah”. She was born a few weeks early and was very weak. Ellen and I took care of her for 5 straight days and nights, feeding her every hour and doing everything we could,  and although she was fighting for her life, it was a battle she (and we) couldn't win. On the fifth day of her life, we had to put her to sleep, she started to suffer and the doctors told me she had no chance of surviving. In fact, they were amazed she was still alive by that time. I was devastated, my first experience with foaling wasn't a good one and I cried for months. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to try again, so we rebred Dachinea to Halcon and a year later, Halcon's Ellena was born.

Over the years, “Arabian Stars” grew out to be a farm with around 10 Arabian Horses and although I started out breeding just straight Spanish Arabians, after a few years I decided to bring some Golden Cross-bloodlines into the breedingprogramm. I loved the Estopa-family and one day I traveled to Santa Ynez, California, and fell completely in love with Sanadik El Shaklan (El Shaklan x Mohena). The day I met him, my life and ideas changed completely and forever. By now, my lovely mare Dachinea, had two foals by Sanadik ; Sabiy Zayan (colt 2003), and Shadhiraah (filly 2004). In October 2001, after a six-weeks-visit to Santa Ynez, I brought home a baby filly by “Estopasan”, and out of the straight Egyptian “Sariet”. This filly is called “Om El Seshara”. By  now, Seshara has grown up and  in Spring 2007 she gave birth to her first foal, a beautiful filly by Kadars Echoo (Padrons Kadar).

In 2006, my life changed drastically, when I  found my soulmate in Erik Dorssers, (showtrainer and owner of Bluebell Arabians Training Center), who I've already known ever since I was introduced into the world of the Arabian Horses. It took about 10 years, but finally fate decided it was time to bring us together. In January 2007 I packed up my stuff, my horses, dogs and cats, and moved 200 km to the East of Holland, to Panningen, to be with Erik and start our future together. Together, we will be running the Bluebell Arabians trainingcenter and the Arabian Stars breedingprogramm, hopefully for many years to come!
